George Feldman McDonald PLLC Files Class Action Lawsuit Against Abbott Laboratories, Makers of Similac Infant Formula, Alleging Company Failed to Disclose Presence of Dangerous Heavy Metals in Formula.

As a parent, you expect companies to sell Infant Formula that is healthy, nutritious, and free from harmful toxins, contaminants, and chemicals. You certainly expect the formula to be free from potentially toxic heavy metals. But what if a company fails to disclose the presence of potentially toxic heavy metals in its Infant Formula?

The attorneys at George Feldman McDonald, PLLC filed a class action lawsuit against Abbott Laboratories, the manufacturer of Similac infant formula, alleging that the company failed to disclose that Similac and its other infant formulas contain dangerous levels of heavy metals such as arsenic, cadmium, mercury, and lead.

GFM is representing parents who purchased the infant formula and fed it to their children, not knowing Similac allegedly contains dangerous levels of heavy metals. Exposure to heavy metals can cause significant and dangerous health consequences. Common symptoms of increased heavy metal exposure include diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, chills, weakness, and shortness of breath. Heavy metals can build up in the body over time and cause problems with learning, behavior, and attention. These toxins can lower IQ levels and are harmful to infants’ and babies’ developing brains. In fact, studies have demonstrated a link between autism and heavy metal exposure, and researchers have found a positive association between the severity of autism and the relative body burden of toxic metals.

Consumers rely on manufacturers to adequately disclose what its products contain. The lawsuit is asking for full disclosure on packaging so parents can remain fully informed of potential dangers.

The lawsuit alleges Abbott Labs knowingly chose to not disclose to consumers that the Similac infant formula contains, or has a material risk of containing, heavy metals.

The attorneys at GFM also represent parents in litigation against the companies who manufacture and sell these alleged dangerous baby food products in claims seeking monetary damages and injunctive relief.

If you believe you purchased products containing unsafe levels of heavy metals, GFM can help fight for you.
