George Feldman McDonald, PLLC’s Victims’ Rights Group Represents Victim of Miami Priest Convicted of Sexual Assault

A South Florida priest is now a convicted sex offender after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting one of his parishioners.

66-year-old Jean Claude Jean-Philippe was sentenced to just under eight years in state prison. He was charged with sexual battery in 2019 and found guilty by a jury in February 2022.

Attorney Elizabeth Parker, Chair of GFM’s Victims’ Rights Practice Group represented the victim as her victim advocate throughout the criminal case. “She’s extremely brave. To be able to come forward and to be so dedicated to this process, to see it through to the end given the unmeasurable trauma that she endured is just truly remarkable. The sentencing gives her the closure that she needed.”

The Archdiocese of Miami released a statement saying, “The Archdiocese of Miami deeply regrets the harm perpetrated by this priest, which extends not only to the survivor of this assault and her family but to the parishioners, to priests of integrity and to the entire community of faith.”

The victim, who is not being identified, was able to take the stand and confront the religious leader, expressing the pain he has caused her and her family.

Elizabeth represented and supported the victim throughout the criminal process and GFM is proud of our role in obtaining justice for the victim.

Elizabeth has spent her distinguished career in private practice zealously advocating on behalf of her clients, who include victims of crimes as well as people injured in accidents and because of medical malpractice.
